The annual Clean Up Australia Day will be held on Sunday 2 March. The original idea for Clean Up Australia was made reality in Sydney in 1989 with more than 40,000 Sydneysiders participating in Clean Up Sydney Harbour Day. The first Clean Up Australia Day was held in 1990 attracting over 300,000 volunteers and has continued to grow ever since.

With e-waste growing three times faster than any other type of waste, taking up a lot of space in local landfills and potentially leaking hazardous materials such as lead and mercury into the soil and water, this Sunday is also a great time to not only join the Clean Up Australia Day effort, but also gather all the unwanted computers and TVs in your home or business and take them to your nearest free TechCollect drop off site for recycling.
With over 150 permanent drop off sites throughout Australia and operating under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS) TechCollect is Australia’s only government approved, not-for-profit and industry backed e-waste recycling program.
All our recyclers are independently and regularly audited to ensure they adhere to strict Australian environmental and OH&S standards, and at least 90% of the e-waste we collect is recovered for reuse in new products, ensuring the e-waste you drop off at a TechCollect site is recycled responsibly and does not end up in landfill.
TechCollect will accept the following products:
- All computers, laptops and tablets
- All computer accessories and peripherals (e.g. cables, mice, keyboards, hard drives & web cameras)
- All printers, faxes, scanners and multi-functional devices
- All TVs
